East Atlanta

Just south of I-20, on the east side of Atlanta, resides East Atlanta. The heart and soul of this neighborhood is the East Atlanta Village (EAV), the business district that is located at the intersection of Flat Shoals and Glenwood Avenue.  Dubbed the “Best Kept Secret in Atlanta” by the Washington Post, the EAV (with each letter spoken…not to be confused with saying “eve”) is beloved by those who live in the neighborhood but almost unheard of by those who live elsewhere.

The EAV is similar to Little Five Points. The people are laid-back, tattooed, skinny-jean wearing folk who care deeply about their neighborhood. The EAV is home to a used bookstore, I.V. drips of caffeine (a.k.a a coffee shop), a couple of nightclubs, a music store, and several music venues where you can listen to live music nearly every night of the week over some yummy grub (e.g., see The Earl).

Moreover, several exciting festivals take place here on an annual basis. The East Atlanta Beer Festival is one of the more popular ones, and is a non-profit event held every year on the last weekend of May. You can feel good about spending too much money on beer here, as all proceeds are driven back into the community. Something else to check out is the EAV Farmers Market which runs from May through November on Thursday evenings, and is sure to provide the perfect mixture of fun and food. More fun can be had during the East Atlanta Strut, Corndogorama, and the Drive-Invasion.

East Atlanta is especially attractive to young adults and investors for its affordability. Investment properties can be scooped up for under $100k with maximum home sales in the mid-$300s. Average home sales in East Atlanta are $175,619. Commuters are especially fond of this area, as it provides quick and easy access to the major highways, such as I-20 and the I-75/85 Connector. Visit and Enjoy!
