Sandwiched between the suburb of Smyrna and the affluent in-town Paces, Vinings is a small town rich in historical, southern charm. It’s generally considered the place to live when you want to move to the city but your spouse doesn’t.
First, the setting: The area maintains its classic southern charm through its old architecture and even its new. The famed Pace House, which is managed by the Vinings Historic Preservation Society, and is often reserved for weddings, receptions, and ceremonies, is a beloved example of the emphasis this town places on its history.
Second, the shopping and dining. Vinings is a destination in and of itself simply because of the plethora of choices one has when it comes to these attributes. For example, Cumberland Mall offers a weekend’s worth of shopping. If you are not the “mall” type but love shopping and are looking for more of a unique feel to your shopping experience, then you’ll want to check out Vinings Jubilee. It has a healthy mix of boutiques, antique stores, and well-loved stores such as Banana Republic and Ann Taylor. Afterward, enjoy dinner at any one of the highly acclaimed restaurants that Vinings has to offer.
Lastly, bordered on the east by the Chattahoochee River, there are loads of outdoor activities to choose from such as fishing, hiking, and picnicking in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The Silver Comet Trail is a popular and especially picturesque 12.8-mile multi-use trail. If you’re more of the “indoorsy” type, then the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre may pique your interest.
